IPv6 has now been integrated into the main codebase for 3.1. You can download daily source bundles at
http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v3/HEAD/

Progress
- Jan 2008: Tested in FreeBSD 7.0 thanks Bob Van Zant
- Jan 2008: EPSV support added to FTP
- Dec 2007: IPv6 code merged into the mainstream Squid 3-HEAD.
- Sep 2007: Tested as vhost/accel with Basic Authentication.
- Sep 2007: Rafael has returned to join in the development.
- Aug 2007: Added capability for external_acl_type socket-based helpers to use IPv6 or IPv4 as required.
- Aug 2007: Now tested on FreeBSD 6.2 and made operational. Thanks Greg Panula.
- Aug 2007: Resurrected v4-mapping for Windows Vista support via --with-ipv4-mapped option
- Jul 2007: Added --with-localhost-ipv6 for systems running fully IPv6 enabled.
Squid will attempt all localhost traffic as IPv6.
- Jun 2007: Squid3-ipv6 appears to be operating normally over IPv6 with either type of client or server on Dual-Stack.
- May 2007: Squid now seen talking IPv6 to clients and DNS servers.

- May 2007: FTP now contains EPRT command.
- Apr 2007: DNS now attempts to resolve AAAA before trying A records (--enable-ipv6 only).
- Apr 2007: Normal proxy operation achieved between IPv4 client and server while --enable-ipv6 and new IPAddress objects is built-in.
- Mar 2007: IPAddress class to has been largely designed and initial testing has begun.
- Added documentation of IPAddress class for developers reference.
